MG Home Page pauses on joining

    Hi:
    Using Firefox (latest) and when going to the MajorGeeks home page there is a pause of ~2 or 3 seconds before the page loads. Same thing when going to another page within the site.
    This behavior does not occur on any other site. It started just recently.
    Its annoying since I like to use the MG site as my home page.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Ignore sig. Win 7 SP1 and software very up to date.

    I know the top banner was loading slow for me causing the page to load slower. Not sure where we are on that, I will pass it on.

    Hi

    Following on from MA's post does this happen with IE for instance? just that the only thing I get on MG forum is a slight stagger because of the Facebook likey thing below the sign in.

    Well ... this only happens on Firefox v25.0.1 IE v11 is ok.
    I use Adblock Plus and their popup addon
    AVG Link Scanner
    Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit
    avast! v9

    The 2-3 second pauses were conservative. Its often more like 5-6 seconds.
    Any ideas?
    I really don't care to use IE

    Hi

    Yes try running Fx with no addons and see if you have the same issue with the pause?

    avast! Online Security 9.0.2006.53

    Hi

    Cheers for the update and the cause of your issue, not great but at least you have a cause to the pause!

    The reason I mentioned using another browser as in IE was not for preference in a browser but more for did the issue happen in that application, helps narrow down an issue if you can try an alternative to see if the issue happens in that app.

    Thanks peeps. It's my birthday party and I'm half in the bag. Surprised that avast would be the cause of this screwup since it's been so great for so long.
