MG Thread number is gone from posts :(

Just noticed today that the MG thread number no longer appears when you mouse over a thread. :cry

I like to keep a record of threads that I am interested in, in case someone asks me a question later about a particular subject.

Now I have to open up the thread to find the thread number. This adds to my download quota (or maybe that should be subtracts from my download quota) for the month.

Anyone else notice this?

Uhmm...bazza? The thread number is still there when you rest your mouse on a thread title....must be an issue on your end.

NP...I checked it in 3 different browsers to make sure. I know in Maxthon for example, you can disable the info from showing up...maybe something like that is a default setting in Opera so you can tweak it?

I am going to have to investigate v9.5 defaults to see if I can spot the default that is (maybe) causing the thread # problem. Bazza

 

I just checked in Firefox 3, IE7, and Opera 9.5, and the thread number is NOT in the tooltip for ANY of them! There is a bunch of hubub in the W3 community over how many characters a browser should show in a tooltip. Maybe that's the cause??

It IS, however, in the status bar for all three. Don't forget about that handy little one, Baz!

 

Opera v9.27 shows 4-5 lines of details of the thread plus the address number, eg., http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=162140 (another thread, only for example)

I think MG have got it right, as usual. :-D Opera v9.5 only shows 3 lines and NO address on my PC at present. A definite PITA for the way I operate.

Can you expand further on this? If you mean it is up in top box, where URL's etc., appear in the headings I know that. But you have to open up the thread to get it, which is what I am complaining about. :-D Baz

 

Yeah, I was surprised! I was expecting to see that too! Hence why I checked for myself. Even had a vague memory of seeing that in other browsers, but I guess it's specific to your build of Opera. Good to know!

 

No, it's at the bottom, actually. Here's a S/S:

This is firefox, but the layout is essentially the same for all the browsers I checked. Red arrow show the status bar, blue shows the tooltip.

You can toggle this on/of by selecting:

View --> Status Bar
or View --> Toolbars --> Status Bar (usually)

I find this handy to know what address a link is REALLY taking you to. Wish it were in the tooltip, though. That's much more visible.

Thanks for your suggestion. M_M's answer solved my problem in Opera v9.27 at least. I haven't re-installed v9.5 again, as I prefer v9.27 at the moment.
