    Norman Malware Cleaner found this:

    C:\MGtools\hide.reg (Infected with REG/Small.A)
    Deleted file

I think, I'm pretty sure, I used a link found on MajorGeeks to download the software. Is this something to be concerned about?

No, it is a false positive on Norman's behalf. Our tools are not infected.

    Correct. :)

And just to be clear on how wrong Norman is.... the hide.reg file is just an extremely simple registry patch that even a novice could examine and see that it just automatically reconfigures the registry keys for hiding files, file extensions, and system folders. It is used just to put things back to the default state that Windows comes with. Norman is qute incorrect and also inconsistent. To be consistent ( consistently wrong that is ) why isn't it also complaining about the unhide.reg file that does the exact opposite? ;)

Thank-you gentlemen. For this and for all you do. I didn't mean to assume that your tools were infected but rather that this was brought to someone's attention lest something actually be at issue and no one has considered it. I assure you I'm even less than a novice. Once again, for all of us, our deep, heart-felt appreciation. We'd be lost-so to speak-without you. HooP

    You're welcome.

We were not coming down on you.:)

It is Norman that we are coming down on like many other scan programs that falsely accuse things of being problems when they are not. Many of these programs do a poor job of actually detecting what a file is really doing and they just make false assertions. If we did the same things, we would be deleting all or the commercial scanning tools, but we know better. ;)
