Mic Not Working In XP x64

I've installed over a dozen sound cards, trying to get a working microphone in XP 64 bit. Of these cards, 4 Creative SoundBlasters, 1 C-Media, and two Crystals, all loaded with no errors, and the sound worked perfectly. But the mic would not work with any of them.

To help get to the heart of the trouble, here are some of the things I already tried:

1. Tried a different mic. (Even though the mic works perfectly fine with any of the aforementioned cards in XP x86 versions).

2. Latest drivers from manufacturers.

3. Control panel, sound properties, ensured correct device was selected.

4. Checked recording properties. (Oddly, everything looks and operates normally, the mic just doesn't work).

5. Made sure the mic wasn't muted.

6. Tried other OS's. XP x64 is the only one that has this issue.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EP43-US3L. The processor is a Pentium D 3.0 (830). The memory is Corsair XMS2 PC6400 DDR2 800MHz, 4 x 2gb sticks. The preferred soundcard is a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy SB0090.

Does anyone know of any sound card that completely works with XP Professional x64? I mean microphone as well as sound?

 

I just googled this and this is the first thing that came up.

I'm also having the same problem in xp64, my system sounds slightly the same as yours and I've tryed everything yourve tryed aswell.

Maybe theres a patch somewhere to patch the audio driver?
