I have to say you tend to make the most outlandish, negative statements of anyone I ever encountered. In this case, I have to wonder how you can make such a broad statement? Are you referring to MJ specifically? If so, how can you make such an assumption when all the facts have not been revealed? With MJ being such a high profile individual I would expect the coroner would NOT make his findings clear until ALL the FACTS are in, which would include tissue testing, etc.

I for one will not fall prey and be sucked in to all the gossip spewing from the media. Therefore, I will not make any assumptions on how MJ or anyone else died.

Furthermore, based on your statement and many others you have made in various threads would I be correct in saying that Chris's mom didn't die from brain cancer, my mother didn't die from a stroke brought on by arterial blockage, my grandmother didn't die from breast cancer which spread into her bones, GT didn't die from prostrate cancer that spread through his body, my grandfather didn't die of a massive coranary...yeah.....I guess by your standards they all died from drugs. Uh huh...rolleyes

Yeah, this frustrates the bejeebers out of me. While Dr.s are human and make mistakes just like the rest of us, in the end responsibility falls to the patient. Second opinions, taking the time to research what has been prescribed before taking it so you can make an informed decision and of course, simply saying No!

I was quoting a long time friend/physician and others close to him that have known for a long time he was taking medications such as oxicotton, Demerol.

My outlandish statement also included the deaths of Anna Nicole Smith, Elvis who had access to prescription drugs from doctors that in fact ultimately killed them.

Had you made it clear in your initial post you were quoting someone else, which you didn't...I 'may' have let it slide.;)

Again, you never indicated this previously so it was still an outlandish statement.

Keith Olberman is a media sensationalist and if Deepak Chopra were as much of a friend as he claims he would be with the family and not airing MJ's dirty laundry less than 24 hours after his passing.

I'm not taking sides but believing media reports before all of the facts are out is irresponsible. No matter what the occasion.

Perhaps they're speaking out because it is such a problem and want it to stop before any more lives are lost.

I forgot to add the following: It's not the drugs that kill them, it's the abuse of drugs that kills them.

As a final note: I don't watch the videos so if they are posted in response to anything I say, it's a waste of your time. I have little to no faith in what the media has to say. Irregardless of what is suppose to be unbiased reporting, this is rarely the case. Just like we as people can all experience the same thing, we will all interpret things differently. The same is true for the media, therefore there is always a personal slant to what they are saying rather than reporting "just the facts".

I'm not picking on you, simply responding (reacting) to statements you made that I found to be outlandish, which IMO goes hand in hand with all the dribble spewed by the media. Facts are facts and specifically in the case of MJ, the facts have not been released yet. The media is full of speculation...all to get the best ratings. I'm not interested in speculation. Speculation breeds lies, false accusations, broken hearts and devastation for those personally involved.

As for the wuss comment. It was a joke...star17 (Chris) and I have happily been together for 7 years. We met here at MG's and used to have some pretty hilarious threads going with the "regulars".. Times change and RL takes priority so many of the regulars from days gone by have moved on. We miss them a great deal as MG's just hasn't been the same in years.:(

I don't disagree with you but it goes back to my previous statement about second opinions and making an informed decision about actually taking a prescribed medication. As with anything in life, there are pros and cons and the ultimate decision to take or not to take is the responsibility of each individual. Speaking for myself, there are several medications I have refused simply because taking the time to research raised many question and concerns. When I first moved here and didn't know a Dr. to go to for a second opinion I consulted my good friend Larry, (Gensuknives) and as a result, refused yet another medication.

At the end of the day, we have to make a choice and if someone chooses to blindly take whatever is prescribed then they have no one to blame but themselves. Many people have died b/c they go to multiple Dr.s and don't make sure all over the counter, prescribed medications, alcohol & tobacco use are made absolutely clear. Dr.'s aren't mind readers just as they aren't perfect but how can we expect them to do whats right when we neglect to lay all the facts on the table?

Common sense people! It could be your life on the line, but unlike people in the news, you or I would just be another statistic.

Many of the older generation fully trust(ed) their docs and the prescriptions issued (approved by the FDA or equivalent agency).

Luckily the information regarding the pro's and con's is more readily available nowadays than it was before.

Pharma is not readily forthcoming about the truth of their meds, their clinical trials are paid by them, therefore not independent. Vioxx and Zyprexa are good examples.

Agreed: It's customer beware, even more so what health is concerned.

I know, you've mentioned that before and I'm sorry you lost a great deal of friends. Things are always changing, not always the way we want.

    The guy is dead, period.

Did he do it to himself, did his doctor do it to him, did the media do it to him? None of it matters to him. An early death is often the price of fame and fortune ( or the lose of same).

Think I will go take a pill. (Yes, I trust my doctor. And he trusts me! )

Yes, AbbySue does have a point. Dr's are not mind readers, and I for one am glad to see the computerized info at the Dr's office now.. All RX's are faxed to the same pharmacy; if my hubby has to go to the hospital, they can pull his records - including RX's up and see what he is taking, along with his medical history and just in case, I keep an updated list in my purse of what we both take, and it is updated periodically.....

We are the ultimate ones who take meds, and sometimes they are needed, they are required, but also it only takes a few to abuse them, and then you have a whole new ball game.... And, not a good one...

I hope you are making new friends here at MG AbbySue, because time does change things, and we must adjust..... Not that change is a bad thing, but sometimes, it is not easy to get used too... Hope all is well. ;)

I have been taking prescription medication for a long time after reconstructive surgery on various parts of my body (neck/back/shoulder and hip) and without them life would be intolerable because the pain is so intense.
My meds are morphine based which is what they say MJ was taking but a lot depends on the frequency, If i take them more than 3 times in a 24 hour period I become a zombie and then you are getting into a dangerous area where you forget when you last took the meds and take them again and so cycle goes on until you have overdosed.
I have my wife here to remind me if i go too far but no one would say stop to MJ after all he was their meal ticket.
Long term heavy med do take their toll on mind and body for instance i now have a memory retention problem and that drives me crazy because you forget so many things in such a short period.

I think Micheal was a tortured soul and may he rest in peace.

    Oh, all is well, thanks!:)

Just to clarify as I either worded my comment incorrectly or it's being misunderstood to a degree. I have many friends here at MG, some from years ago, some newer. Change is expected..it's a normal transition be it in RL or on line. I do miss many of the old timers. The interaction we all had in the forum was hilarious. If someone started a thread within a matter of minutes it would be 3 or 4 pages of hilarity. We'd be laughing so hard we cried. The friendships evolved into RL friendships. The yeller shorts, a case of Froot Loops arriving via UPS, and on and on. I don't have a problem with MG and it's members as it is now. It's not much different then real life...you can look back with fond memories and wish for a moment that you could recapture the time and place. It's all good.:)

Your statement clearly mirrors my own feelings but I would add atonement and/or penance, then peace b/c my faith tells me he will answer for any wrong doing while he was alive.

Hello AbbySue, Yeah, I understand now, I am on another forum also, and most of the gals from the "old" site are not on the "new" site... they didn't like 'change': couldn't figure out 'why' they had to log in to post, and we tried so hard to explain it was for THEIR own good, but they didn't want the change, they just wanted to 'post their progress', and so now as it is, we have mostly newbies, and I too miss the ones from the past..

They were pretty much 'set in their ways' and was not about to change... due to the multitude of spam that was being posted, we had to go to a 'log-in format'.... Some of those elderly gals were NOT fond of that! Yeah, I know what ya mean now... ;)

Wonder what it'll be like in ten years. I empathise with AbbySue. I suppose I'd feel the same. I make friends easily but miss them a lot when they move on. Be it work or socially. There are a lot of fine people here at MGs and it would certainly be a wrench if these folk bugged out.

As for MJ, too many young people denied that he was a pervert. His only mistake was paying out to the gold diggers for a crime he was never charged with and was never proven.

    I rest my case.

Something I think if it really did happen and they wanted him to be punished.. by didn't they get him to go to jail or serve something? Why the family take a pay out (for the money) . If you had a child that this was done is money going to fix your kid. If this really happen why not get him punish... and dont take the pay out. Also If I was famous with money Id pay someone to shut up because Id be tired of hearing it, and want it to stop as fast as possible. But to the people that do that crap.. burn in h e double hockey sticks.

That's what MJ did. And no, he didn't serve any time in jail. Money will afford you that luxury.

I don't know where you stand rather he did or didn't do it.. But we don't know and we weren't there. We don't know what could have happen.. He admit to sleeping in a bed with kids.. You sleep you roll around, your hand could've bump something in your sleep.. And they say this.. I am not saying he wasn't one but I just said no one really knows. But if it was about getting him punished, and for the crime it should have sticked to that and not say okay send me a check each year thanks for touching me! I think he got himself in trouble with just tring to be with kids all the time.. if he did this stuff.. why not do it to his own kids? Why not other kids? Why not more then just 1 or 2 that claimed it? You'd think with all those kids and them being around 24/7 there be more to it then what it was.

IMO all MJ done was to be honest about things he done i:e had that little leach Jordy Chandler stay over , too honest if you ask me n as for money if he'd have wanted to mess with minors he didn't have to do it at his home he could of payed for it or just flew to Thailand on the QT and got it there without anyone findin out and believe me with the money he had he could av done so at the blink of an eye, lets face it you never heard McCaully Caulkin screamin **** charges bcos he and his family didn't need the money did they !
    I rest my case also!!!!

Huh? He didn't serve any time because "police questioned 30 children who were friends of Jackson, with all denying that the singer was a child molester. A police officer involved in the investigation told The Los Angeles Times that no evidence (medical, photographic or video) could be found that would support a criminal filing."

    Unfortunately, shit sticks.

Whether he was guilty or not being accused should be a red flag for parents to keep their children away afterward. Sadly instead I think some saw an opportunity to get money.
I totally agree with you silas, no amount of money would compensate for my child being molested, I would be out for blood (so to speak).

I don't see why the parents shouldn't be held accountable by the state for neglect. How can you know the past of someone and then agree to let your kid have an extended one-on-one stay with that person? Then accuse them of molestation. The parents should be held accountable also.

I'm not taking sides but to me there was way too much evidence collected for him to walk 'if' guilty. Even if the parents want to settle the state can still pick up such charges and go forward with charges so serious. Prosecutes try to make a name for themselves with high profile cases and they think everyone is guilty just as the defense thinks everyone is innocent. That's the way it works. If you think attorneys don't have an agenda then think again.

He will be held accountable before he finds peace. Even in death.
