I am running XP SP2 Build 2600 and had MS Office 97 Professional installed. I wanted to upgrade to MS Office 2003 Professional but keep the 97 version copy of Access too due to having conversion issues with some Access programs I run. I ran the 2003 installation and followed Microsofts suggestions for simultaneous installations of the Access products. I can now start up Access 2003 OK but when I try to start Access 97 I get the error "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine." I have attempted several times using Microsofts suggestions from their knowledge database in Article 141373 but still get the same error message. I have rebooted after the re-installation per the instructions. Would anyone have any further suggestions on how to get Access 97 running simultaneously with Access 2003? Thank you.

I took both 97 and 2003 Office installations off this computer and thought I would start over fresh by trying the 97 install first and then moving to the 2003 install. After doing the Office 97 installation, I am still receiving the error message "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine." I did not attempt the 2003 install then because Access 97 is still not working properly. The other applications within Office 97 work fine. I tried MS's suggestion to do the install with using setup.exe /y. Didn't make a difference. I tried MS's suggestion to reinstall after changing the font name hatten.ttf to hatten.xxx. Same thing. Does anyone have any other suggestions?? I'm getting desperate.

As I'm in work now, I checked our install of Acess97 and Office 2003, the way it has been done is to with Office 97.. do a custom install and only install Access97 and install it into a folder in Program Files called Acess 97, then install the full package of Office 2003 to the default install location.

Are you logged on as Administrator or have Administrator rights when installing?

for the licence error try these options
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/141373 ( the patch file listed may work )
