Everytime I check for updates it says I need to update from definition 5725 to 5729. It downloads and installs the update but if I check again for updates it says I still need to update from 5725 to 5729. I am using the updated version that came out this week. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Does anyone know what's up with MS Antispyware?

I have no problems with it. It recently updated automatically to the latest version of software.

    Try uninstalling your current version.
    Then reboot.
Now download and then install the latest version: Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware

I did all that & it still keeps looping the updates, over & over again. According to the MSAS support forums, there is a problem, and MS doesn't seem to know about it! Apparently the new signatures have to be manually downloaded from Spynet, and copied into MSAS. I manually updated and it solved the problem (I hope!). What version does your program show (for the actual program - not the signatures)?

Yes! I just wanted to be sure. I tried experimenting with this on 4 different PCs and could not recreate the problems.

Well OK but there is a problem. Did you read all the complaints on the MS Antispyware (Beta) Newsgroup?

Yes! I never said there were no problems. I just said I was not having any problems with it.

But from one of your previous messages, it sounds like you fixed your problem.

Oh I hate it when I'm the only one having problems. And I don't know if it's fixed or not. Have to wait til the next signature update.

I saw this posted by Donna (Host in a CastleCops forum). Method II worked for me.

This is what worked for me.

What I did was uninstall the program and then I deleted the gcUnCompress.dll file located in the Windows, System32 folder. Also I deleted the folder MicrosoftAntispyware in the program files folder. I reinstalled the anti spyware program and all is well.
