What did you think of the Anti-Spyware Beta Halo?
Got some good results with it, but used it with Ad-Aware too, might have to give this one a try!

I find it very good McA, I particually like the speed and the extra functions in Advanced eg. System Explorers are very handy

Not had many problems with the beta apart from the early few false postives and one a few weeks back but its been very stable for me, if MS can produce the AV like this then they maybe onto a winner.... they need to make it either free or very cheap.

My 2 cents if you dont mind, Halo :)

MS Spyware was Giant and was one of the best out there. The current beta is great, but like any beta has some bugs and should not be your only spyware removal tool. Keep Ad-Aware or Spybot handy for now :)

Hell no MA ....... Totally agree with your post and I do keep Ad-Aware and run that generally before I use MS Antispy.

MA.. a question, I personally havnt used Rav AV so dont know what that apps like, just wondering on your software travels if you have any experience of it? could it make a good AV for MS to expand on like Giants antispyware?

I have several on my pc, including MS's spyware. I run them at different times to see which one catches something another misses.

I have tried numerous "free" spyware prgrams and evaluate them according to my machine and needs. Many will claim to have found numerous "problems" but you have to spend alot of $$ buying the program to remove or correct these problems....which alot of them are just "bad" cookies you can manually delete.

However, i found a new one, "Ewido Security Suite 3.0", that i ran after installing it. It caught several little issues i had, including a bug called Dc1.exe and removed them. Needless to say, i'm happy with the free version and will continue to try it out. If it proves to be as much as I claim, then I'll buy the full version.

Purely imho, RAV antivirus was pretty good, but not on the top of my list mainly, to be honest, because I didnt care for the interface. If MS snazzes it up, which they probably will, and keeps the database current, it will be a winner. It would be nice if MS offered free antivirus and spyware removal.

Cheers MA and yes I think that MS would gain a bit more respect ( respect is not the word I was looking for but close ) if they do offer both apps free once beta testing is finished as it may do a small bit of repair work in the PC community after all of the exploit bad press they get ;)

Yup. Im watching, this new peogram is supposed to be a all in one sort of utility for your pc. Since a program, or programs like that could cost you over 100 bucks, it makes it hard for someone to complain that Windows costs 100 or more, least I think so...
