Yeah a CES last Stand indeed as MSFT are pulling out of that Electronics Consumer Show this year so a last Hurrah! perhaps!

I personally thing these shows while likely expensive for companies do add that glitz and showcase to new products to get the collective juices of the tech community flowing but I also do thing that the cost is massive to lay these things on.

I do like the Nokia Lumia 900, my friend Jules has the Lumia 800 and its really good, as good as my HTC HD7.

I found that the CES is now boring actually. There's nothing really new, except for thinner, lighter and less power. 3D TV's are still going nowhere IMO along with 3D cams. I watched some 6 hrs. of live CES TV and was totally unimpressed by the Spike TV broadcast.

Still, the floor space that MS gave up was apparently snapped up within 45 minutes of its offering for next year so I guess the manufacturers still think it's a valuable showcase.

I think the best thing I have seen at CES this year is the 31mp compact camera and that Samsung have a TV that is future proof in that you can plug in a new board with latest tech, opposed to getting a new TV. Personally 3D is poo, the fact that you need glasses is making it prohibitive to a wide market, if we had holographic TV then that would be good in 3d, but its a ploy to make you pay more to see or buy a 3d film when majority of end users dont have the hardware.

Like you Augie CES is getting a bit stale as most of the tech has already been showcased, Microsoft for me have nothing new as do most other companies, odd bit I have never seen before but most has been mentioned for months previously.
