Ok. I'm using Windows NT with Small Business Server. I go into outlook express and the administrator has 97,000 emails. Is there an easy way to delete these? Express won't let me select all messages to delete them. I went into the exchange server admin and tried to clean the admin's mailbox but nothing happened. There is a ton of mail sitting waiting to be sent and received and i'm guessing that the admin is slowing things up. Any ideas?

When you are in the exchange server, do you see the 97,000 emails there or have they been downloaded from the server and sitting on the local box?

They are now in the local box. Also, There are 3 people who used to have mailboxes at our company. They r gone now and their mailboxes have been deleted but a bunch of mail is still sitting there for them waiting to be delivered.

if you're in Outlook or Outlook Express, just click on an e-mail and press CTRL+A and that will select them all, then hit delete on your keybaord.. and wait a bit as 97,000 emails get removed.

Ok so you have deleted their mailbox from the exchange server....yet they have emails waiting to be delivered to those deleted mailboxes? Where is this mail waiting to be delivered at? Do you have some sort of holding queu set up? As for the local box w/ 97,000 emails. OE uses a .dbx file for storing those emails much like Outlook's .pst file. Look and see if you can delete the .dbx file (note this will get rid of ALL their emails, course im sure you know that lol)

Ok. So I tried to delete all 97,000 emails but express stopped responding. Yes there is a que for the email. I can go there and delete them in exchange server but it think only 1 at a time. What if i added them back into the srver so the mail will go through?

You could add them back, let their mail through....delete the DBX files on their machine to kill all those emails.......then take their mailbox back off exchange and set it to block any further email sent to those old user names...

ok the .dbx thing worked for the Admin mail. Thanks. How do I block future emails to those users?

I'm also getting a lot of stuff like this......

A mail message was not sent due to a protocol error.

    554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a yahoo.co.kr account (acxfd@yahoo.co.kr) [0] - mta108.mail.yahoo.co.kr

The message that caused this notification was:

    To: <acxfd@yahoo.co.kr>
    From: <Dwight@yahoo.com>
    Subject:

Why is yahoo mail going out from my server? It's an outbound mail error.

Ok generally the way Exchange Server works is when an email is received outlook goes out and verifies that the mailbox is present....if it is great it sends it...if not then it bounces a message back to the sender and informs them that the mailbox is not present. OR the other way I have seen it set up is where it is generic as far as acceping emails meaning Anything@yourcompany.com is held in a qeue and then sent from there. Which are you.....I will look up the exact way to block emails that are sent to specific addresses and post it here.
