    Hi Kaddock!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!
It's an interesting read and there have been a number of publications on the subject of how to clear the index.dat files after you've been on the internet, which is a topic along these lines although not so extensive. I would be hesitant to simply take an article I'd read and start deleting files. Alot of what makes the newer Microsoft operating systems stable is their redundancy and while there's an argument for keeping redundant copies of files, it leaves a question in any user's mind as to why they would have to be secret. There is a discussion going on in the malware forum now about how to delete infected e-mails, since, as your article points out, deleting things from the trash doesn't actually delete them. The suggestion that compressing the files will complete the deletion process is common, but is compressed garbage any less garbage than non-compressed garbage.
I think to get a broader range of comments, you'd do better to have this discussion in the Software Forum and I'll ask if the thread can be moved there.
