New here, sorry if wrong place to post;) Computer has windows XP prof and was running extremely slow. So I decided to delete everything and try to reboot with the installation CD, but was windows xp home instead of professional. So deleted the new installation and went back to old slow professional (which I don't have the cd for). Now every time I try to click on the address bar in internet explorer a new internet explorer page opens up. The only way I can navigate through to other web pages is by utilizing the search on google or bing. Any advice?

What version of IE do have installed now? What version did you have installed before the attempt to reinstall Windows? Were you still using IE6? Are you familiar with tabbed browsers?

What Service Pack do you have installed for Windows XP?

What protections are you using such as anti-virus, malware, etc.? Do you use any disk cleanup utilities such as CCleaner?
