    I think you mean microsoft office 2003. The problem could be from the installation. Try to download another installation that will work better. Maybe some files are missing.

    No I think he actually does mean Office 2002 which is also known as Office XP, plus why download it again? its on CD/DVD in the main if legit, or outside chance from Microsoft Store other routes are not legitimate.

    Please do slow down and give a more accurate reply as some of yours upto now are off target, including a few I have deleted in a thread thats resolved and had nothing to do with antivirus, we do have a high standard of quality postings and delete ones that just guess.

    @murphy try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324520 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838687

    I'm not sure what's preventing it from installing, but Office 2002 does install in Vista without needing compatibility mode - I had it on this system until I bought Office 2007 (big mistake!)

    The thing I wanted to point out is that if you are hoping to use Outlook it won't work properly in Vista. It does work, but you have to enter your email address and password every time you use it. M$ said this was 'by design'.

    There is an unofficial script workaround available, but even that isn't wholly satisfactory.

    Hi

    Open up the Office CD and Right click the Office Setup.exe file on the disk and choose Properties > click Compatablity tab and tick the box for Run in Compatability mode and choose XP SP2 in dropdown.

    Also can try right click on the setup.exe file on the disk and Run as Administrator.
