Hi, all. I have an issue with Microsoft Office on my Dell Inspiron 15. Apparently, when they made this computer and preprogrammed Office, they chose 64 bit. Which is fine. But my college offers a free license to Office ProPlus 2016 for the duration of my being a student...But the problem is, the school's download is a 32 bit. Microsoft Office then tells me that it won't allow the download, because "The 32 bit does not get along with the 64 bit version."

I kind of need Office, but it doesn't want to play nice today...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you continue to use the MS Office on your PC?

The Dell installation of MS Office is a trial version and he/she would have to pay/subscribe after the trial period is over. His/her college offers FREE MS OFFICE for the duration of him/her being a student but only for the 32-bit version.(??)

Then all she needs to do is uninstall the trial of MSO.
While you can have 2 versions of MSO installed (not recommended), it seems they must both be either 32-bit or 64-bit.

i started out subscribing and paying every month, but one of my school mates pointed out that the school offers a free license. the tech dept at the school said i had to completely remove office, then reinstall through school. which resulted in the whole ''32 bit and 64 bit don't get along" part....would going through the click to run, and entering my school provided credentials correct it?

    Hi

Sadly Click To Run and using your school licence wont work as different products (sounds strange but Retail is different to Academic as in licence codes, can try it), its geared for Retail, but what I would suggest is compare what your version and from subscribing per month you have Office 365? and your Schools version is, weird they dont offer 64bit as well as most laptops.PCs these days are 64bit.

Definitely compare the versions school has to yours and make sure you get all the same packages as they can be very different https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/cat/Compare-Office-suites/categoryID.68155000 plus if you have Office 365 and its comes with 1TB of OneDrive cloud space and you use that, then make sure the school academic version does not remove that.

Message you get is likely this one https://support.office.com/en-gb/ar...-install-2e2dc9e5-3eb0-420c-862a-ab085b38597f

Uninstall MS Office on your computer and install MS Office you're getting from school.
