Microsoft office word 2007 wont save

I do a document on microsoft word and I hit save as or save and it wont let me save the document. How do I fix this??

 

What version of Word? What version of Windows? Do you normally save documents in My Documents or another folder? Are you trying to save the documents in the standard Word format (.doc/.docx {for Word 2007 and above})? Exactly what happens when you try to save? Did this problem just recently start or has it been going on for awhile?

Note: I'll be away from my computer for hours today. Everyone else feel free to jump in.

 

Its word 2007 on windows 7. I save them in other folders as well as my documents. When I hit save nothing come up to rename the document or what format I would like to save it as. It started happening once I installed windows 7.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Office? It is likely a quicker/easier fix than trying to troubleshoot the reason you are having the problem. Not the most technical fix but probably the most practical & efficient!

 

If you updated, to keep your old programs, this could have caused it- as with previous updating , some programs do not work as they should after an operating system update, in situ.
In the older versions you could do a repair from the Office cd, I would expect it to be the same in later versions. I have not got it on my present partition, but I used to go to the top options, and in the drop down box, I chose repair, and was prompted to put in the Office cd,s.
I will look into another partition and come back, if no one else comes on to help.

 

I looked in the office 201 version, and it was different, I checked on the options tab in save, but unless the options are greyed out in yours, I cannot see any answer there.
