microsoft publisher 2010 convert problem

when I try to convert from a word doc to publisher I get this error message there is not enough memory to convert text formatting Windows is low on memory. Save your work and close other programs to free up memory and then try again. amd phenom II 945 quad-core processor. 8 gig system memory 1tb hd windows 7 64bit. any suggestions? this is the only problem I have

Searching for your error brings up lots of hits on Office for Mac and Word for Mac.
One post said that it is actually an installation error for Office and doesn't have anything to do with memory.

What the error message is saying is "Something I expected to be in memory is not where I expected it to be". Really, it has nothing to do with "converting" as you and I would understand it -- the "Import Filter" used by Word 2004/2011 has not started, and therefore "nothing" is in memory.

Is the docx file also from Office 2010? How large is your page file/swap file/ virtual memory? How much free space on your hard drive? (I ask to see if a problem with any of those things masquerades as the error message you are getting).

I also found one solution - not sure how helpful it is because there was no feedback.

Is your Publisher 2010 a 64-bit edition? If not, that could explain the memory restriction.
