microsoft security essentials problem

Hi
i recently installed mse. before i used avast i removed it and installed mse it worked fine
but for one reason or another it disappeared from the taskbar and out of program files. However after check up with SIW it seems still to be active and scanning. But i cannot see and find it anymore. Any idea where i could find it and have it back in the taskbar?
using win XP pro svcp 3

The tray icon may not be visible:

This may be caused by MSE v2 changing the tray icon to “notification only. To make the icon visible, right click on the task bar and select properties. On the task bar tab, select “notification area” and customize. Look for the Microsoft Security Client user interface and change the setting to “Show Icon and Notification”.

thank you for the reply, but the problem is that i cannot find MSE howevet it seems to be active.
When i try to reinstall it it does not, saying MSE is working

Hi

You should find in All Programs list on the Start Menu, MSE, or you will find it in this location C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client and double click msseces and MSE will open, then on the main page it should have a TV screen with a green tick on it if its currently active and upto date.

But to have it show in the system tray then the info that plodr posted above is what I would do, to have the icon show in the tray at all times.
