    Hi,

I've been having problems logging into my live.ca e-mail account pretty much every time I try to sign in. This occurs on both desktop and Android cell phone. I use Firefox on desktop and cell phone, but it has also happened trying Microsoft Edge on the desktop.

The password is correct (I'll click on the icon to "see" the password to double check), however it says the "password has been attempted too many times". I have to go through the route of either getting a verification code sent to my cell phone, or via gmail account.

I sign out of live.ca after every session when I shut the computer down for the night. I've even tried clicking on "stay signed on" (just to try something), even though I sign off at the end of the night.

Is there a way I can correct this?
    Thank you.
    :)

The past few days I've noticed my Bell Fibe internet connection seems to disconnect / reconnect sometime during the night. Could this be causing the issue? But I'm pretty sure the login fail started before that. The login fail occurs both on desktop and cell phone (but, cell phone was even connected to a different system at work and the login fail still happens).

Or, is it possible that someone has been trying to access my account? Or maybe a glitch somehow with browsers? The login fail message seems to happen about 4 out of 5 times.

Is there a way to tell if someone has been trying to access my live.ca (hotmail) e-mail account causing this login error? I'm thinking of changing my password to be on the safe side, but I'm afraid I'll get stuck in some sort of a loop trying to verify it's truly me when it already says there's been too many login attempts.

My apologies for all the posts, gathering thoughts out loud, lol.

Go to https://account.live.com/activity to see every login attempt via your Microsoft account's security dashboard. Look for old devices you no longer use, unknown locations, repeated failed requests from the same IP or app and so on. This should give you an indication of whether it is an internal or external activity that is triggering this. Network changes are unlikely to cause this since Microsoft doesn't lock your account because your IP changes.

Changing your password is good step to take provided it is done from the Microsoft account page and enable 2FA. You will need to sign out all devices and sign back in manually. Also, remove old devices from your Microsoft account.

    Thank you.
The login attempt page opens with zero entries.

    Hi,

I successfully changed my password last night.
This morning, same error occurs, that too many password attempts were made??

I tried the activity page again, this time it wasn't blank, it showed one entry (me).

    Session activity
    Successful sign-in
    Successful password reset
    Successful sign-in

What the heck is going on? I have to get verification codes everyday to access my account.
