Microsoft Vx 3000 Webcam:Defective Mic?

:waveMerry Christmas everyone! I hope you are all having a joyous holiday with friends and family.:-D

I have the microsoft vx 3000 web cam ... I am using it with IM but my mic isn't functioning properly ... there is a lot of background noise ... like some kind of interference and the voice sound is low ... barely audible with the background noise. Now at first I thought it had a lousy picture until I discovered there was a way to focus it ... there is no user information I could find on this product that would give me information like focus or volume for the mic ... nothing like that. I even with the Microsoft site, but no troubleshooting info on the mic at all.:confused

So I'm wondering am I missing some thing or is the mic just defective? My OS is XP pro ... I have IM 10 installed. I checked the driver for the cam and it is up to date. Does anyone have a solution for Tiny spirittoo on this cold Christmas night?

Well it appears no one has a solution to this problem so I am going to say the mic is defective. Fortunately the place I purchase the cam is going to replace it with another one if they have it in stock ...if not they will refund my money.:wave
