my computer is really starting to piss me off , all of a sudden when i try to open microsoft word or any word document it pops that it has to configure Windows XP front page proffesional and then asks me to insert the CD.

i have a legit XP version and legit Microsoft office .. and this computer is quite old why the hell would it do this all of a sudden it driving my crazy , because i use word alot and i dont think i have the XP cd.

Edit: well if i go straight to the microsoft word exe it gives me the insert a cd but when i cancel it , it opens word and then asks me for the cd every 10-15 minutes or so.

Really need to know what went wrong?? can it easily be fixed or what because word and all the office is still installed why is it asking me for this??

    Hi

Did you actually put the Office CD in the drive to see what happens?

Do you have the Office CD still? just in case!

Does it ask you for a specific office file to be located?

Likely causes can be from a faulting MSI installer file, and possibly if your Office version was just updated, by an inability in some instances to access the MSOcache (MSO is the Office installer files if they where installed on your PC) location, what you could try initially is to Unhide all Files and Folders then open Word again if the message pops up then aim it to the MSOcache.

Alternatively you could use Office Installer Cleanup Util and remove Office installers (just start with Word if its an option), likely need to re-install Office.

ill check to see if i have the CD but i think it came with office already installed.

I dont know what CD it actually asking for possibly the XP or Office not entirely sure this is the error message that pops up if i let the setup run for a bit.

    Hi

Did you do part of my original post suggestions and unhide files to see if you have a MSO or MSOCache folder?

Also in your Pic whats in the image under than message with error 1706?

Are you logged in as Admin? if on a user account login as Admin and open Word and if it pops up, hopefully it may install fully and then leave you alone in the normal user account.

Could try a repair of your Office from the Help > Detect and Repair option, although "may" need the CD you dont have unfortunatly and all the methods I know personally generally need the CD, will keep looking for an alternative route, unless someone comes up with one in the meantime.

i did look for the MSO and MSOcache folder but dint find it.. dint do the unhide files because not sure how to do it..

the window under the error message is just a status bar that says its loading the office with frontpage like its unstalling but then that error message eventually pops up.

yes i am an admin , there no user accounts only an admin. Also tried the detect and repair but it ask for the CD.
