Minecraft black screen - deleting bin doesn't help

Minecraft isn't working for me. I have all my drivers up to date (AFAIK), I have tried deleting the bin folder, and I am using the correct version of Java (64 bit in my case). Minecraft isn't working through either the launcher or the browser; the launcher goes to a black screen as soon as I log in, and the browser hangs on the screen stating "done loading" and doesn't play. Any other ideas?

Do you have the latest 32-bit version of Java installed as well?

 

I had a similar problem and all I did was:
1. Uninstall both the game and java,
2. Restart comp
3. Reinstall java and then my game
4. Restart comp again to make sure everything has taken effect

After all that my game worked and I have had no problems since
