Minecraft SMP lag spikes

Normally, I would post this on the Minecraft forums. But this problem seems to be a windows or java error outside of minecraft. At random times in SMP I get large lag spikes that last over 10+ seconds. When lagging like this the services.exe process starts using half my CPU. When I saw this, I got a more advanced process viewer, and tried to figure out what process in the services.exe process tree would be causing the problem, but only the services.exe process was using the CPU and it did not show anything in the tree using anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I actually may have fixed this problem, Ill post again if I get some more lag.
