I was wasting time on Pinterest and I came across this pin.

Out of curiosity, I looked up to see what Misphonia was and if it's actually real. Well, apparently it is and I have it. :-D

I always thought I just the fact that being annoyed by people who breath loudly out of their mouths, the annoying sounds that phone buttons can make, and my personal favorite (hate) is people scraping metal utensils against their teeth (omg this one really, really drives me so crazy, I just can't take it!) were all just irksome pet peeves of mine but nope, apparently they are specific "triggers" for people with this. There seems to be mostly auditory triggers but a few visual ones.

I just always thought I was just being a jerk when I'd kindly (or not so kindly) ask people to stop! when it came to making these sorts of sounds but now I have an excuse, I'm legitimately nuts. :-D

Let's see.. do any of you have these "triggers"? :-D

I guess I am infected. I actually want to hunt the people down and shove the phone down their throat.

Does that mean I have a serious inflammation of Misphonia?

I would have to say, yes. I feel that way about utensils (usually forks) that people scrape against their teeth. I mean come on, your mouth isn't big enough to get your fork or out without scraping your teeth?

Oh I have it too, I didn't know it was a brain DISorder! LOL I always suspected I was nuts.

They mention foot tapping and all sorts, I can totally relate to this stuff. Crazy!

Technically, I would say I have it, because many of the things on the lists bug the crap out of me. However, I have to admit that it's only when certain people do it. Which leads me to believe I don't actually have misphonia, but rather an intolerance of people. LOL

My mother CONSTANTLY sucks her teeth after a meal, to the point where I have to leave the room for fear I will beat her bloody. In fact, I got annoyed just thinking about it. :guns

    I must have it too.

I just figured it was annoyance at other people's disgusting bad habits. :-D

In fact, are you sure the person who invented this disorder wasn't a lip-smacking, loud breathing, finger tapping, gum chewing, fidgeting, all around mess of a walking bad habit?

Must be why we are friends. You know birds of a feather LOL

Maybe you just have Misphonia of the mother? :-D

I just thought it was just an annoyance too! I had always thought of phobias as things that weren't "normal" to dlslike (like being touched, [especially when people touch my hair! I just want them to stop! :crybaby], I know that's not normal :-D ).

I guess nowadays, if it bothers you, it's a phobia. :-D I do wonder who sits and decides what is a phobia and what's not.

The only eating behaviors I can't stand are the blatantly obnoxious ones such as constant lip smacking, chewing with your mouth open and "snapping" while chewing gum.

As for the heavy breathing part, I doubt people with this disease have much of a sex life. ;)

So, I finally have a name for the feeling I get when people do things like that. Thanks Dy. :)

I thought it was just me! Recently I timed my brother in law eating a ham sandwich, it took him approx 45 minutes, grunting at every mouthful.
I think I’ve got a sever dose of Misphonia I had to turn by back and do an Edvard Munch

I can see the humour, but the timing in having just ended a relationship four days ago kinda sucks for me. ;)

I suppose I'm more than a tad Misophonic as well.

Ha!, ha! The Scream is about how I feel, sometimes, when people, animals objects, well just about anything bugs me. The more I try to block it out, the more friggin' annoying it gets!:crybaby

    http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g309/Zobor/2011_New/2012_New/The_Scream.jpg

For example: I go to the loo at night and the blasted Magpies think it's dawn as soon as I turn on the light. In the day, I get stupid doves nesting on my bathroom window sill - coo-coo'ing away. Sometimes, I'm out there with the broom, to get rid of the annoying critters. I do actually like nature, but not when I am trying to unwind and do something else. Then there was a tree branch tapping on my bedroom window at night. I had to get out and climb the tree at three o'clock in the morning, (as you do rolleyes), and saw the branch off! I refuse to sit at the same table with one friend who's jaw clicks when he eats and he eats with his moth open. Just, eeeww!:mad
Snorers bug me the worst, and I've been known to stay up all night rather than lie in bed, gritting my teeth every time the offender takes a breath.

Other things that make me want destroy whatever is making it are:- People who click pens/lighters. I have been known to grab the lighter or pen and chuck it across the room. People a tap-tapping their foot all the time makes me want to bust their leg off and hit them with it! I could go on, but I'll leave it there.
Supposedly Misophonia is related to P.T.S.D., which I used to suffer from. So I thought I was just a grouch. Maybe I am, too.:crybaby

Oh, I know! Like I said, it was just timing. Last week I'd have laughed right out loud. ;)
