Miss Gaga

Ok so I'm flicking around youtube and start reading some of the comments about Lady Gaga's song Alejandro and it's similarities to Ace Of Base's "Don't Turn Around"

Most people like me agree it's a direct rip off but there are quite a few who say it sounds nothing alike.

Now don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with a cover version of a song, in many cases they can be better than the original, a few examples would be....

All Along the Watchtower : Jimmy Hendrix vs Bob dylan (Jimmy rocked it)

Live and Let Die : Guns n Roses vs Wings (Guns shot down Wings)

In my opinion anyway, there are many examples of this but simply taking a song and changing the lyrics requires virtually zero talent and is largely what ruins music in so many ways, when you hear a kid singing a song and arguing with you about who's song it is when it was written 30 years before they were born gets pretty annoying.

Just my opinion but just wondered what you guys think.

 

Absolute,total, rip from AOB. There's no question about it. Now, you're right. Lots of artists do this. The question is, did they do it with permission? did they do it as homage? or did they do it to blatantly rip it off.

Personally, I don't think "Gaga" has half an ounce of talent. But that's just me.

 

Ahh, who are these people? This reaffirms my goal to only watch an occasional football game, or maybe a DVD. :-D

I don't think you need permission to "Rip it off" providing you have changed it enough. A cover version is homage, taking someone elses music and just changing it IMO would be an insult by a talentless "Artist" who can't think of their own ideas. But then again I seriously doubt if Gaga writes her own stuff anyway.

 

Throw her dress in the frying pan after choosing the choicest cuts. Her purse might make a good stuffed steak. NOT! Didja catch Degeneres give her a veggie dress to wear instead?:-D This is why people hate the US, waste of good food!
