Miss me?

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

    My puter's power supply melted down Thursday night, and took the motherboard with it. Good excuse to upgrade to AMD 64, socket 939, PCI-E video, etc. ie: total make-over. Primary drive(s) was a RAID-0 array, and I managed to get back into Windows without a complete re-install to save all my goodies, favorites, .pst file, and sundry, and will do a proper clean install.

    I had to do a dirty re-install of Windows with the new RAID controller driver to access it, had to re-activate Windows for the umpteenth time, and the uppity thing is telling me I have a counterfeit version of Windows now, after reactivating by telephone. LOL. Gotta love Microsoft. Should be fine after a clean install.

    Back soon.... :)

    I love upgrade excuses! Well, when you've got money to spare for them anyway. My laptop has now officially busted- it's got a key missing, it wont turn on unless you press it on the underside in a very specific place and now the battery has given up. Unfortunately, me being me, I can still make it turn on - but it needs to be plugged in and started in a very specific way, which makes it next to useless for anything like mobile computing.

    So, I've got to get a new laptop at some point - hopefully when I get a job after exams I'll be able to afford a nice one. Lets hope :p

    Sounds a nice upgrade GT, and good stuff on being able to recover your files, its a royal PITA if your PC goes down and you cannot get to files you need.

    Have fun re-installing :)

    Thought you hadn't been around a while...

    PC components can be a pain in the arse...always a good excuse to upgrade though :)
