Missing cat walks 3000km to old house

A cat that hates getting into cars walked more than 3000km from the Northern Territory to her old house in South Australia.

Jessie had been missing for more than a year when she returned to the house in May, according to her owner, Sheree Gale.

"Mrs Gale and her husband Andre had moved to the Top End before flying the cat up in March last year," The Northern Territory News reported.

"Two other cats remained behind in Ungarra - with the agreement of the new owners - because the Gales did not think they would react well to the move."

Weeks after the relocation, Jessie disappeared, eventually turning up in Ungarra.

She is being cared for by the home's new owners, Troy and Jenn Humby.

"I thought it was strange because this cat was hanging around with the other two cats and I thought a wild one wouldn't do that," Mrs Humby told The Northern Territory News.

"I took a photo and sent it to Sheree, and she said it was definitely Jessie."

Mrs Gale said she was surprised by her cat's adventure.
"She hates getting into cars, so I think she has walked," she said.

 

Saw that story...interesting given the distance travelled by that feline. Goes without saying, Cat's choose their humans and pretty much where they want to live too I guess.

Reminds me of an Aussie story - "Red Dog" - see site: http://villagecinemas.com.au/Movies/Red-Dog.htm of a legendary dog who travelled around Australia looking for his master who didn't return home (owner died in a car accident).

Animals are just wonderful individual creatures with their own personalities and traits...that Aussie cat Jessie you posted and Red Dog typically display those traits.
