missing export KERNEL32.dll:GetComputerNameEXW

Attempting to install McAfee avg_free and get the error "The STUB.EXE file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.dll:GetComputerNameExW" Do I just need to install a copy of kernel32.dll as in janetkalino post of 07-17-06??

Sorry, didn't realize there ere two different products.

 

Just did a search and found I do have a kernel32.dll file located in
C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM
Where do I go from here??

Very Interesting! The AVG Free website "reccomend you download AVG Anti-Virus Free through our partner download server" which happens to be cnet. However, if one scrolls to the bottom, "you can also download AVG Anti-Virus Free from AVG directly", which I did. Then you have options to download the "online installation" of the "offline version". The online installation brought me right back to the original problem, so I tried the offline version. Seemed to work but then found out the Windows ME is not supported.

Guess I should have mentioned that at the start.

Any way, PLODR, Thanks much for your help.

Any suggestions on where else I may get some anti-virus software that will work with ME would be appreciated.
