Missing IP Address and IE wont' work

Hi,
I have a ip and ie problem. My ip address is missing when i do a ipconfig. Also i tried installing IE 7 and it still wont let me surf. I do get a connection on my usb adapter but can't sign on. Why is my IP address missing and how do i recover it?:cry:confused

 

Post results of these: start, run, cmd:

ipconfig
ping www.google.com
tracert www.google.com

What's your network setup? Modem/router/NIC?

 

when i did ipconfig the only thing that came up was media disconnected.
ping www.google.com result: Ping request could not find host.

tracert www.google.com result: unable to resolve target system name.

whats next?


i tried signing on again and i got blank page instead of page cant be displayed.

I am using a linsky usb adapter. it says its connected but IE isn't working.

 

Uninstall linksys adapter from device manager, restart pc, install the latest driver. If linksys comes with a utility that stays in the taskbar, do not install this. You can browse through the folders of the driver disk to the location like ...\drivers\xp for your OS, copy this address, paste it in hardware install wizard. This will install only the driver.
