Missing pdh.dll

Friends or Geeks of this site,
I am not in anyway computer savy or close to a computer Geek, is there any one that can help find how to fix the following messages I get when trying to download Skype for the 5th time? (listed after this note) I found your site and this page for help but none of it is helping. where is there a file to unzip? Where do I go to find it? or any of this stuff. I went to My Computer and found Progam files and Windows and the windows system 32 but pasting the file of Skye from the Program files to the system 32 file did nothing. Any thing else you can help me find and try? Remember you have to carefully lead me any place you send me.Thank you so much for any help you might be.

Skype.exe- bad image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\odbcbcp.dll is not valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

thank you for your response, sorry to say I have tried your suggestions with no results. I tried to download and save to desktop, used your site to do so, it says download complete-run or open file - I opened file once then did run, it kicks me to skype to agree to terms then to- we are having problems connecting to download server & then says to download an alternative installer click download button- I do that-it sends me to skype page to download it goes through same to save or run so I save to desktop again, double click-it goes thru the install, then I get the Fatal Error mess.-Failed to load library ‘pdh.dll’. So I did the upzip from your site, saved it, copied pdh.dll to system 32 then go to start, run,-paste in regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\pdh.dll and I get the following:
RegSvr32
“C:\Windows\System32\pdh.dll” is not executable file and no registration helper is registered for this file type.
My computer sys. is Microsoft Windows XP, media center edition version 2002
service pack 3 and I do not have Spybot, but have Paretologic Anti virus
Sorry to be so difficult -would you have any other suggestions?

Try to run the System File Checker, which will check for missing or invalid system files. Start | Run | type

You may need your XP install disk for this.
