I have put a little work in here and would really like to hear about some outcomes.

    I

Actually, I DID scan the report before i posted it, but only for things that might compromise the security of my system. I have no problem whatsoever with anyone knowing i named the computer "doodyhead" as i normally have a rather prolific sense of humor. I do appreciate all the help you have offered me, no doubt about it.
Now, what i would REALLY like to do is put XP on this computer, as I REALLY don't like VISTA after 4 or 5 months of using it, I think it is a bloated p.o.s. filled with minor glitches . My own computer (the one im working on is actually my parent's) has XP and runs beautifully, much quicker than this one, never crashes, rarely needs a restart etc.. My question is, can I use the product key from this version of VISTA to install XP ? If so, then id MUCH rather do that, and THEN install the chipset drivers , etc. I have looked for the answer to this question already, and found conflicting answers. I would go ahead and try it regardless, problem is when GEEK SQUAD rolleyes set up this computer (while i was living in another city) they didnt leave any of the extra stuff that came with it - cables, restore discs etc. So, if I try to install XP and it doesn't work with the current product key, I wont have a VISTA restore disc to reinstall VISTA, and I don't want to spend $100 on a store-bought version of XP, i would just use the restore disc from my other computer (would that even be possible? My other computer is also an AMD Athlon 64, but its a 3500, and this one is a 3800) .
Again, I absolutely DO appreciate all the help .

Also, where did you find :
    Product Type: nForce
    Product Series: nForce 4 series
    Product: nForce 430/ Geforce 6100

cause i dont see those things anywhere in the report . Rest assured that I will let you know the outcome(s) throughout whatever course(s) of action i take .

I installed the entire driver set as recommended, cleaned the registry, and im still getting the same BSOD . I hope this doesnt mean i have flawed hardware .
If the hardware IS flawed, and the problem lies within the IGP, do you think maybe the problem could be solved by installing an aftermarket graphics card ? I intend to upgrade my other computer within the next few weeks to a better graphics card, and could put the older graphics card in this computer. I really don't know what else to do at this point .
thanks again for all the help .

Your heading in the right direction by the sounds, if you can try your Video Card in there (even before you upgrade as a test) it will help test whether the IGP is corrupted in some way. Most motherboards have 2-3 year warranty even if you only have receipts for the purchase of a complete build they should honour the mobo. This could be something worth exploring with Acer, personally I would, but just be careful on how you word your requests (I always drop in "Fair Trading Commission" or your local govt equivalent if they have poor responses, works wonderfully!).

Ok, I took the old Radeon x700 pro out of my older computer and put it in this one. I uninstalled the NVIDIA display driver, and now have access to the full 1gb of physical memory. However, when i try to install the driver for the radeon card, i get an installation error and it says it cannot complete the installation. When i clicked on "show error details",
it wont show me any information. Do i also need to uninstall the NVIDIA MEDIA SHIELD and the NVIDIA nForce PCI SYSTEM MANAGEMENT? (i did not uninstall those) .
Now when i shut down the computer, i get a blue screen with no text at all, which indicates to me that there is still a system failure.
Maybe i need to uninstall these two other NVIDIA drivers.
Im wondering if those being present is causing the installation error of the RADEON driver . . ..

btw, device manager is not showing a problem with the x700 . (no yellow exclamation mark)
I also ran CCleaner and RegCleaner to clean up my registry .

Okay, seriously, how do i get this thread moved to the DRIVER forum ?
Or should i just summarize, and start a new thread because really the title of this thread really is no longer representative of the issue(s) im working with .

I'd start a new thread with the make and model of the computer and what driver in particular you need.
You can also post a link to this thread for anyone that cares to read the three pages that lead up to the point you are currently at.
