Missing Security Center? What have I gotten myself into?

Hello. So I think that this has been asked before but while reading through the thread I got lost as to the resolution. I posted this once before in the software section but was advised to post here so that I get the green light that my computer is clean and ready to be fixed. Sorry if this is a faux pas, and if it is, feel free to not answer. In any case, here goes!

So I am trying to clean my girlfriend's computer. It is an older HP Pavilion. I have already gone through the "READ AND RUN THIS FIRST" sticky post to clean out all the malware and viruses and as far as all the scans are concerned (as well as some that I did afterwards that aren't on the list which are the Online Panda Active Scan, Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-Aware. The problem now seems (and as I recall it was this way before the malware removal process) to be that the Windows Security Center is missing. I looked in the "Services" area and it is just not there. This is somewhat worrisome because if this is missing, what else is? I don't have the XP cds that came with the computer, and I would hate to have to install anything illegal (i.e. a downloaded version of XP) so I came to the best!

If it would help to attach any log files or any system specs, or if you would like me to redo some of the steps in the malware removal sticky, I will gladly do that. Also, I should note that the XP is the Home Edition and it is the legal, legit copy that came installed with the computer from the store.

Thanks again for any help that anyone can give me!

I suggest you attach the logs as requested in the Read and Run First instructions. Malware can wipe out the security center service.

So it was a case of an ID10T error. I am a colossal moron. When I was fixing everything I realized that SP2 is NOT installed. Yeah, win for me. Thanks for the concern anyways!
