Missing Sys 32 File Xp Pro

I'm looking for inetcpl.cpl and inetcpl.dll files for XP pro.

I installed avg tune-up and it's destroyed a lot of files. They may have been corrupted by viruses, malware or what have you.

I restored all of avg's tuneup changes but it has not put the system back the way it was.

Will not restore nor will comp boot into safe mode. I've tried repairing registers for safemode and depending how it wants to act I may get lucky but usually black screen is all I get. Really just looking for inetcpl files.

You may need more than just those 2 files.
Do you have the Windows XP CD?

 

I'm downloading and going to mount it as that's my only option.

I only see 3 issues sys restore, internet options is gone and safeboot goes black to screen letting me know it's in safemode.

I was hoping to get the CPL files for internet options and work out the other 2 manually as well.

When and if a person gets the sys32 files then runs them from there, they restore or create necessary shortcuts and reg keys.

I understand most people don't like doing manual repairs but it's less time consuming without having to burn disks hit r wait which may or may not work then repeating.

Right now I'm using tweaking repair while waiting for XP pro to download.

Download will take 2 hours and the tweak could take all day. I could manually make repairs in less time, minutes even.

Thank you very much. Now I can move forward on the other 2 issues. I had the inetcpl.dll but when removing avg it deleted it. E en though I restored changes avg made it didn't revert back.

I will post back when done. I have been messing with comps for 17 years {registries, hardware & software} I even got into editing and converting databases. I'm not new just trying to work off my phone as I no longer use a computer or bother with them.

A friend who refuses to buy a computer except off eBay, XP refurbished has me trying to repair it. He has 4 exactly alike and I repaired 3 and given them back. BUT he has all his personal files on this one and he uses it as his main computer. I've tried explaining to him it would cost hundreds if I didn't do it for free so just buy a cheap new one.

All but internet options. seems to be working. Those files I was able to add the inet options back in control panel but it won't open. Which leads me to believe it's a registry setting.


It's old XP pro sp3 so not to worried about it as he uses FF & Chrome. It bugs me not knowing where that change was made.

I did however find out through the registry that every firewall and antivirus under the sun has been installed. I checked them but didn't see anything pertaining to inetcpl {internet option or control panel}.

This inetcpl error may have been done prior to him handing it to me for slow speeds and avg errors. I noticed someone had been in sys32 and system root folders messing with files as they were out of place. Meaning not in order but off to the side inside the folders. He said long as he can get on ebay, check outlook mail and no avg errors, he's happy.
