Mistakenly deleted spoolsv.exe, need it back!

I have windows xp and I deleted the printer driver. I deleted every file that had to do with "spoolsv.exe". Now I can't print anything because Microsoft no longer has the printer driver. How do I reinstall the driver? I need help bigtime!

 

I think your only option is to perform a safe re-install of Windows XP. You will need your original XP disc.... I did a bit of research at the Microsoft web site concerning the spoolsv.exe file, and everything said that reloading the OS was pretty much the only way to replace it. You can try a system restore to a date before the file deletion, but I don't think that system restore recovers deleted files. You could also try a file undelete program, many good free ones are available here at Major Geeks in the Data Recovery section (I recommend Restoration http://www.majorgeeks.com/Restoration_d4474.html). But if there's several files, and you deleted them awhile ago, reloading the OS is the probably the only way....

Try running scannow to replace any missing system files from your install disk. Put your install disk in the drive and hold the left shift key until the drives lights stop blinking (will prevent the disk from auto loading), or let it load and then exit the install screen. Start > Run > and type sfc /scannow (note there IS a space between the sfc and the /)

This will start a scan of the system files and will replace any that it finds are missing.
