Ok My Pcu is an intel celeron 4a, (2.0 GHZ) I have DDR ram and 350W PSU, My max memory is 1 gig. My board can only hold pcu's up to about 2.4 - 2.5ghz. I think P4's and the intel celerons of the same socket go up to 3.0 ghzs. I would like to get a better board than what i have that holds 2 - 4 GB Ram instead of just one and be able to use my old DDR ram until I upgrade. So to sum it up, I want a board i can put all my crap into, PSU, CPU and my DDR Ram, But be able to upgrade the 2.0 ghz to at least 3.0 ghz and the 1gb of ram to at least 2GB, maybe more if possible and have more on board video ram than 64mb. Also i have reason to believe I'm bout due for a new board anyway, On board (64mb-LOL) video is fried, If that's gone then Id say it's very possible the board is well on it's way to that big trash can in the sky. Is this possible and if so and i do this..when I upgrade would i have a system more fit for high end games than what i have? I don't have 3 - 5 hundred dollars for a new computer so i'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.. lol.

It's possible, i suppose, but you would probably have to get a new case and power supply. They just might not be compatible. Some motherboards and powersupplies are proprietary, and have special connectors. It's not always the case, but alot of times it is. you can get a new case, power supply, motherboard, cpu, and RAM. You should be able to reuse the cd/dvd and hard drive, just make sure the new board supports ide/PATA and most drives are now SATA. You might just be better off buying a new system, even a sub $500 system is better that what you have now. and to purchase everything you will need to "upgrade" it will almost even out. if you want further assistance let me know.

the only socket 478 board on the site. You would need to get ddr2 ram, and some thermal paste for the cpu at minimum. Like i said, your front usb connectors might be only for an hp motherboard, same with the power supply. this board has onboard video, s3 chrome something or other and onboard sound.

A lot of ppl seem to had problems with that board, ports going out, sound not working when GFX card installed, Board not lasting no more than 9 months.
