mobile phone trackers?

hi all, im in need of advice,,,yet again!

I live in the UK, my son is at that age where he wants EVERYTHING cool! 1st on his list is a mobile phone, I've heard some where that you can get something for your pc that can track the where abouts of the phone (and my son). Does anyone know what it's called and if I can download it free from the web or buy it, I don't mind buying it but getting it for free would be even better!

I just Googled 'mobile phone tracking' and came up with several likely looking links. Most seem to be subscription services that charge monthly after a trial period.

If I remember the news stories on this originally then I believe it's illegal to track someone unless they are aware that you are doing it (I'm guessing that would be stalking) so I would read up on it and ask yourself what you want from this and why.

Thanks you guy's, I'm not in anyway doing it to stalk my son, it's that he has asthma really bad and he is dyslexic. If I rang him and asked him his location, he wouldn't be able to read a street name. It's purely for emergancy's. Better to be safe than sorry!
