Okay so I'm in the process of building a new pc but I'm not a gamer or need serious power. I am okay with XP pro and don't need anything fancy. I'm set on buying this mobo/cpu combo : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3004709&CatId=1599

I was looking into these 2 cases:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2907979&CatId=1844

    and

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2418945&CatId=1844

If you look at the back of both cases it doesnt match the configurations of the mobo I intend to buy. Everything is ATX compatible so what gives? On the mobo I want the serial port is right under the mouse/keyboard port and on the cases there is a space in between the mouse/kb and serial port. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you are talking about the plug configuration, that is just an insert that gets changed out with the mobo

dont worrie. the mobo comes with a new io plate for the case. i never used a io plate that came with a case to this date.

I would get a new psu. The psu's that come with cases are junk and p4's like good clean power.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104931 good cheap psu. $34 now could help save your system. and yes i used a psu that came with a case and it killed my mobo costing me $150 for a new mobo. Any of the FSP psu's are good and i used the one i linked you to in a friend rig with no problems and i personal currently run this in my rig and its been srtong for over a year. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104953

that powers this rig fopr over a year with no problems

    Athlon 3000+ oc'ed to 2.7ghz
    Gigabyte K8NS
    Maxtor 60 gig
    Plextor CDRW
    Plextor DVDRW
Geforce 6800GS unlocked to 16/6 and oc'ed to ultra clocks
    Neon lights
    water cooling system
    3 120mm delta fans
    2 fan controlers

Sum it up. any MATX or ATX case will fit. the plate you are looking at can be changed out and you use the one that comes with your mobo. pick any case that you like but i would chose one without a power supply since most come with cheap junk psu's. you can use them with no problems but i dont advise it. the psu is the most improtant part of the system. i seen cheap and top end rigs get taken out by psu's that came with cases. im just telling this so you know the risk.

If you follow your link and click on the more info link to

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=2487802&sku=P459-1224

    Tiger list the box contents.
I have underlined the backplate which fits in the standard rectangular cutout on your ATX case and obviously fits the motherboard it comes.

I always advise people to make sure all the bits are in the box.

    WHAT'S IN THE BOX

PCChips P23G Via Socket 775 MicroATX Motherboard
    User Manual
    Drivers CD
    SATA Cable
    Power Connector
    IDE Cable
    FDD Cable

    I/O Back Panel Shield

Does the brand Ultra make good psu? I know they make great computer cases but I was wondering if their psu deliver good clean power. I'm asking because I have credit at TigerDirect.com so I have to buy what they offer. They offer Coolmax, Diablo Tek, Enermax, Kingwin, Vantec Thermal Technologies, Powmax, Raidmax, Silver Stone, Technology, Systemax, iStarUSA, and Just PC USA. Thanks guys.

Remember that you should work out your psu spec on current demand on both the 12 volt and 5 volt rails separately. Wattage is not a good indicator as one rail may be over/under powered for you needs.

Most power supplies can't produce full rated current on all rails simultaneously, and would be over their wattage rating if they did so.
