Modem On Hold

Any one know of a good free program that i can use to receive calls while on Dial up using a v.92 modem w/ Ms xp?

 

In order to do that, you need "Distinctive Ring". Just using a program alone will not work. Also, for the price of DSL, why have you not switched yet?

 

Yeah I tell my sister the same thing she won't listen its her pc so don't really have a say.But whats this distinctive ring u talk about and how do I get it?
From what I hear all you need is call waiting and caller id through the phone company is that not true?

Distinctive Ringing is a special feature that is not seen much anymore. What it basically is, is when you dial a number, you can have different rings when someone calls for a particular person.

 

ok so if that is that is needed then how do I go about getting it? And does it cost anything?

 

You cannot get it anymore, due to Telco's do not sell that feature anymore.

 

I should rephrase the previous statement, due to it is still available, but not seen as a great demand nowdays, due to most people have cellphones, or VoIP and Call Waiting.

 

Ok so there is no way to receive phone calls using dialup?
