Modem Problems

hey guys,

i have just signed up for broadband with optus. i recevied a free modem which i think is not the best but does the job. when i first started using the internet it was fine and very stable. after about a few days or so, my Internet explorer started freezing and forced me to reboot. after that the computer was running fine without being on the internet. once i started the connection to the internet my computer froze again and forced me to reboot.

guys, i dont know what the problem is but i have some ideas that it could be modem or some sort of spyware that has been downloaded onto my computer. maybe it could be my service provider?

please guys could you help me out. im in desparate need of the internet.

Are you using any firewall? If not I highly recommend you do so immediately!!
You may also try shutting off comp and modem (unplug if no switch)
Then start modem back up after it has finished turn comp back on
Run Anti-spyware and anti-virus programs and clean out any problems

 

Hi. You also don't tell us whether the connection to this modem is USB or PPoE (Ethernet). Please give as much info as possible. Good night and good luck.

by the way my modem is connected with ethernet PPPOE.

it is a siemens 4200

Also, you might run a good registry cleaner (RegSeeker is one), and try Firefox just for giggles. Let us know what you get.
