Modem Speed Not Performing As Expected

I recently upgraded to 400 MBS internet through Suddenlink. I had an existing modem & router that I bought earlier this year but the Suddenlink tech said it would not work well because it "doesn't have 16 channels."

Suddenlink provided me with a DG1660A modem/router combo. It works as expected and I get the 400 MBS speed. I don't want to rent this every month if I don't have to. Problem is my personal modem, a Netgear CM700, isn't working as expected.

When I connect my computer directly via ethernet to my own Netgear CM700 modem the speed drops to 30-40 MBS! What is going on?? The Netgear is rated for up 500 MBS, DOCSIS 3.0 and 32x8 Channel Bonding.

Can someone explain why my Netgear modem isn't performing anywhere near as fast as the one Suddenlink is having me rent? Isn't 32x8 better than 16 channel bonding? Is there some mystery spec I am missing? Can Suddenlink increase the speed of my Netgear modem for me?

Here's the link of approved modems from Suddenlink

Note the Netgear CM700 has a black diamond after it; this indicates it has an Intel Puma defect so that's why it doesn't work as expected.

Look over the list and buy a modem that is approved by Suddenlink if you don't want to pay.

My ISP is Comcast/Xfinity. I have always purchased my own modems since I got broadband in 2004. I made sure I checked Comcast's site for approved devices before I bought off the shelf at BestBuy.
