Modem Trouble

I have An arris Modem that normally connects to my computer through ethernet. But i just got my 2nd computer in a different room and my wireless router connects through ether net also and there is no room to connect it. The modem has a space to connect it to the computer from USB I tried, all the right lights came on the modem but when i tried the internet i got page cannot be displayed. Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

 

Your modem has to connect to the wireless router first, then hardwire your first pc from the wireless router, the second pc will work off of the wireless. ed

 

When i connect the modem to my computer through usb it wont assign a network adress so i cant connect to the internet i have to make the connection work first before worrying about the router

 

I dont know how to fix this to make my connection work

 

i tried to repair the connection it said it couldnt renew the ip adress

how do I go about doing this the last time I had to do this was 4 years ago when i first set up my wireless

 

what do i set my subnet mask to the default one it alredy was?

 

its connected and everything now but when i try to use it i get page cannot be displayed still

 

connected directly to the modem resert the modem did everything still aint workin

 

i went to circuit city bought a hub connected everything to it i can get on teh internet now but when i go to set up my wirless it says it can detect my router. Now what?

 

You can't use both the enet and usb on 95% of modems, your connection needs to go, ethernet from modem to wireless router internet port on wireless router, then wireles or ethernet to pcs. Bam

 

right now i have it hooked up like this ethernet from computer to hub, ethernet from modem to hub, ethernet from router to hub, i can get on the internet on the main computer connect to the wirless singnal on 2nd but nothing when i try to get online on the 2nd and on the config. software it cant find the router connected on the main computer

 

listen to my setup please, ethernet from modem to router, router to pcs, not a modem, Unless your router has no ethernet ports. Then post back.
