Mods: Software - Download Link Broken

Hi guys,

One of the links in your Software section isn't working: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/dvdvideosoft_free_screen_video_recorder.html

To be super honest, I then went to the site, downloaded the file, and got a Misleading:Win32/Lodi message from Windows, so I will try something else on your list, but thought you should know.

 

Running Windows 10. I guess I didn't explain what I was trying to say, but I had the essentially the same thought, that the site had been reorganized. I found the same link that you found, and got the error above. The caveats on the MG description warn "Limitations: This program is advertising supported and may offer to install third party programs that are not required for the program to run. These may include a toolbar, changing your homepage, default search engine or other third party programs. Please watch the installation carefully to opt out."

I got none of those either. Windows Security gave me the Misleading:Win32/Lodi warning, and I just installed something else instead.

 

Virustotal isn't very encouraging with the install file. 20 security vendors and no sandboxes flagged this file as malicious including Microsoft.

@plodr Maybe run ADWCleaner for a thorough check that it didn't sneak in a toolbar or change your browser settings.

I didn't install it but was able to download the file with no warnings from Windows Defender either. Strange.

Yes something changed and the MG admins were never notified.
