    Hi all,

Forgive me for posting this, but does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on mole repellents? I have a dog so I don't want to use poisons or traps. Has anyone tried those sonic repellents?

    Thanks in advance

    Don

    Hey!
Sonic repellants work great. My family has used them to keep away every type of critter you could imagine. It works at a frequency just higher then dogs and cats can hear. It won't bother your dog.
Good luck woth your mole problem.

Thanks for the quick reply, Zack

I was hoping that someone would say that they worked.
    Thanks for your help.

they work, but not very well.
in the real world the mole (or rodent) will get irritated and move
a few feet away from where the sonic device is located.
to rid your property of all signs of activity you need
to put a device in the ground about every 4 square feet.
and you'll need to leave them there and check them and feed them batteries
on a regular schedule, and maybe relocate their positions every so often.
got a lot of money? got a lot of time?
    don't waste it.
    traps work.
gas works. don't know what it would cost, but if you can access a high pressure cylinder of compressed NITROGEN gas, connect a small diameter hose to the regulator and stick it into the animals burrow opening and sort of seal the rest of the opening with dirt or rags and finally open the gas bottle and let the gas escape into the hole at a slow rate of flow. leave alone for awhile. do not use propane or any other gas with an odor as the animals will only smell it, leave, and then return later. nitrogen, argon, and the other inert gases are odorless and the animal will not realize that the oxygen in their burrows is being displaced by a non-life supporting gas. once the oxygen level is displaced to less than about 18% it only takes a minute or two for death.
Argon and the other inert gases are way too expensive to consider, but nitrogen should be fairly inexpensive. if you know a welder, he might be able to help you out.
several people in my area constantly are connecting flexible tubing to the exhaust of their lawn mowers and sticking the tube into the holes and letting the mower run for up to half the morning, but they are busy doing it several times during the summer months and really doesn't permanently get rid of the critters
a rodex 5000 also will eliminate ground burrowers,, if you can find an exterminator in your area with one.
    have fun.

    Thanks for the advice,

I looked at the rodex 5000 and that looks a lot like the Caddyshack method :-D

Don't know if I can get a cheap nitrogen cyl. so, maybe I'll try traps.

Thanks for the warning about the sonic repellents. I appreciate your help.

    Have a great day

    Don
