I have three daughters, the 11 year old does not use im programs......but, the others have......and when one or the other has gone on to bed, and I don't happen to see the program in the tray, a few of those things happened to me.....they thought, that the girls were still on, and tried to chat me up, and a few even wanted to meet in person......we met at a 7/11 store.......just me, it was 11:30 pm, unknowned to me, the oldest who was 16 at the time, has shown her age as 22....when I asked him, if he knew the age of the girl, he didn't, and turned very white........I also had with me, a local policeman...........

....there have been other too, that would not take no for an anwser..."hey, I'm a 50 year old guy, and no you can't come over and play with my daughter".............wobbles

 

I think what you did was great! A lot of parents don't take the time (or don't have the time) to see what their kids are up to on the internet and the instant messageing bit. Maybe you got some potential preditors off the streets for a while! I applaud you!

It would scare me to death to have three daughters. Some comedian, can't remember who it was, talking about one of his daughters wanting to know why she couldn't talk to or see this guy and he says "because honey, daddy can't kill all of them".

Kudos to all who fight internet scum! Parents MUST be aware of what their kids (boys as well as girls) are doing on the internet. I honestly don't think most people really consider how the internet has changed the entire family security dynamic . . . no responsible parent would allow their 13 year old daughter to hang out around a sleazy nightclub - but are perfectly willing to let her surf the web with no supervision! It is essentially the same thing.
