    Said no one ever.

So, something rather inventive happened to me this morning, so I thought I would share with you in case the same thing happens to you.

Someone hacked into my Walmart.com account and changed all my account information. They then proceeded to attempt to use my account to purchase a pre-paid Visa card, and ship it to the new address.

Lucky for me, I was online when I got the "you've changed your information" email, and the card linked to the account was deactivated by my bank on the 15th when they changed to chipped Mastercards.

But I have to admit, it was a clever way to be an ***.

The lady on the phone gave me the perp's email, which was ewrr5@pcxseller.co.uk. So obviously it's another international scam, but he's getting a bunch of porn subs later today, let me tell ya.

The lady on the phone couldn't fix my account until that transaction had cleared, because god forbid we be the largest company in the world AND efficient. So I have to call again in a bit and make sure it's fixed. Yay Mondays.

This in addition to taking ill cats to the vet and doing all my fostering paperwork. Oye.

I hope this helps if anyone else gets a funky email, to call up immediately because these people were not messing around.

Plus, I now have all the whois information. wewt. But it appears to be a false address too.

That's always a scary thing. I've had my Amex info taken when I've used it online on infected sites. That's happened twice. Amex is the awesome with that stuff which is why I only use it when shopping online.

    People are scum.

I am losing faith in the human race lately when hearing things like this and everything else that goes on.

Hehe... keep your cool Eldon and don't get political. ;)

Many years ago I did get a call from my bank (on my Birthday!) and was told that there were fraudulent purchases on my Visa and therefore the card was cancelled. I didn't trust them and told the agent that I would be calling in. When I did so I was told the same and asked how many $$ there were involved and she declined to tell me. So got another Visa card mailed to me. No, I hadn't purchased anything online so it must have happened in a store or restaurant.

Very inconvenient so I can in some way relate to Wenchie and Laura.
