Recently i just got a IBM G70 CRT moniter from my friend, he gave it to me and said that the moniter keeps blacking out and while blacking off the moniter makes a really silent clicking noise, after 5 min or so the moniter would start displaying again, but it would only last about 30 seconds or so, so i took it and tried for myself and it seems that my case was more servre, longer black outs, shorter display time, so wuts the matter? is the moniter good as dead?

Hmmm CRT ? Have you tried to degauss the monitor ?(usually from the monitors osd)

Or could be an extremly dirty interior of the monitor causing a short inside the case.

Hate to say this but servicing a CRT, should only be done by a Certified Tech, were talking massive voltage here that WILL KILL. The price of a CRT display is so low now its fool hardy to tempt fate by opening the case. The clicking sound, sounds like a short in the High Voltage circuit, but could also be the power relay. Sorry Hope that Helps a little
