Monitor blacks out...

hey! any help appreciated...

Sometimes my monitor doesnt come on at all (power is ok)

Other times i can use my pc for 10 minutes then the mouse pointer doesnt work on anything (ctrl, alt del doesnt work either) then the monitor blacks out...

another symptom is when the screensaver comes on it freezes also!!!

finally all the windows on screen go BIG (ati driver error message) I have updated Monitor driver but then the screen doesnt come on at all!

All devices working normally when checked?
I know its probably my monitor that is faulty but i didnt think it would affect the mouse controls????

I dont think it's your monitor dude. If a monitor or screen is faulty it's normally a constant fault, rather than the symptoms you're displaying here.

I would suggest it is a graphics problem. instead of installing a monior driver, have you gone onto ATI's website and downloaded the latest driver for your graphics card?

Try the link above, and see if it fixes the problem.

If it doesn't work, your graphics card is probably overheating and shutting itself down as a self-defense measure.

my monitor is about 5 years old but my pc is a bit older!

Well a bit more info about your system may help:

- What sort of mouse (wireless)??
- System Specs (including monitor, but especially whether IGP or Video Card)?
