    Hi

We may need some more information as Monitor connections and the connection to a graphic card on your PC can be various types from VGA to DVI, so please post the model version of monitor and the model version of PC as well as model of graphic cards used.

For model versions should be a model version sticker or label on both PC and monitor and for graphic card enter Device Manager and click Display Adapter or use Everest and once installed click Computer > Summary and the info will be in that list, only post relevent bits.

Photograph of the connector ports also may help if you attach them to ID the connectors needed.

Thanks for the help, i am crap without like this, but i will try and explain best i can....

The back of the monitor connections is a bit like a electric kettle connection, (a 3 pin plug).....

The PC connection has 9 pins in it.....

The three pin plug on the monitor is most likely the power plug. Is there another plug like the 9 pin on the computer? Or maybe even a cable connected already in a more permanent manner? I don't think the 9 pin is the monitor plug on the computer either.

I suspect you should be looking for something like is shown on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You use two different power plugs: one for the computer (3 pin plug) going to the electric outlet/mains and a different one for the monitor going from the 3 pin p-lug to another electric outlet/mains. Then you use a 9 pin connector from the monitor into the 9 pin connector on the computer.

Ordinarily, the computer does not power the monitor.

FYI Only: Some power supplies (especially older ones) do have both a C14 inlet and then a C13 outlet for powering a monitor, but you need either an IEC-C13 to IEC-C14 cable or a 5-15R to IEC-C14 cable to take advantage of it.
