monitor going on and sometimes goes black

i'm having trouble with my moitor. It will start loading windows xp home edition then just goes black and reloads. There is a clicking noise like the monitor is being shut off but the power light on the monitor stays green. cpu stays running *fan also is running). I WENT INTO SETUP AND IT STAYS ON. sEEMS ONLY TO HAPPEN WHEN WINDOWS IS LOADING. iT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME, BUT WHEN IT DOES IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ABOUT 6 OR 7 TIMES IN A ROW, THEN IT WILL RUN OK FOR A DAY OR 2.. HELP!!! thank you

 

Ah the old clicking monitor problem, I hate that I've had it before too.

I remember it happening when I put my CPU heatsink on backwards. So it's not necessarily a monitor issue!

Try disconnecting all your internal drives and take all RAM sticks out but one and see if you can access the BIOS.
It could also be your video card, try switching to onboard video if you have it (long shot).
