Monitor Going to Sleep at 20 Minutes Windows 7

I recently started having a problem where my monitor turns off after 20 minutes. I can wake it by moving the mouse. I checked Personalized Settings and originally had the display and computer set to sleep after 2 hours.

I went into Advanced settings and the Hard Drive is set to sleep after 20 minutes. I changed it to Never but the monitor continues to go to sleep after 20 minutes. I checked the setting again and the Advanced setting changed back to 20 minutes.

I then changed the option to use Performance rather than Balance and went into the Advanced Settings area and changed all of the setting to Never sleep. The monitor continues to sleep at the 20 minute mark. When i closed out of Personalized Settings and went back in, the option to use Balance was selected. I then created a custom Profile and set everything to Never sleep but the monitor continues to sleep at the 20 minute mark.

To test the sleep settings, I set the Sleep time to 2 minutes and everything goes to sleep at 2 minutes. I then changed the settings back to Never and the monitor goes to sleep but the PC never enters sleep mode. The PC is about 6 months old and is not connected to the internet.

I have noticed that there are a few people online that are experiencing the same or similar situation running Windows 7 but have not found a solution to the problem yet. I also performed a few searches here to make sure I wasn't posting something that has already been discussed before.

Also, if I play a media file, video or audio, the monitor will still go to sleep at the 20 minute mark.

Thank you for any help that can be provided to resolve this issue. Please let me know if you need additional information.

Right click a blank spot on your desktop and choose properties. Click on the screensaver tab then at the bottom click the Power button.

There are different power schemes. Try creating a new one and set the monitor to never turn off. See if that solves the problem.

Hmm, did you set 'never' in the 'change plan settings' and saved it? You don't even need to go into advanced, and if you do the 'Display' should say 'never' also. Oh, changing the minutes to short time kicks off the 'Power Saver' mode. I just tried it, somewhat weird to me but that's what happened.:confused Make sure both the plan and the advanced settings are both set to 'never' and 'apply'/OK out.

Other than that, I have no idea.

After I noticed that the computer was resetting the individual items back to their default settings in the Advanced section, I created a new scheme. I did all of this before posting this thread. I selected the new scheme and set everything to Never. The next time I reboot and went back into the Settings, The Balanced (Recommended) option was selected and all the items in the Advanced section were set back to their default settings.
It seems to me that there is a setting somewhere else either in the BIOS or Registry that continues to reset the options to their default and ignoring the Never options that are set for both the display and CPU.

I've tried this several times. Even after the monitor shuts off, I wake it back up and go into the settings and the Display is still set to Never. I clicked on the Advanced options and it doesnt matter if the Display is set to Never or 20 Minutes, the display will turn off at 20 minutes. Now I have tried to change the Display time to 10 minutes and the monitor will turn off in 10 minutes or 2 minutes and it will turn off in 2 minutes etc... as long as it is less than 20 minutes. If I set it to 30 minutes it will turn off in 20 minutes. The CPU is set to Never and it will not go to sleep. So the CPU portion of the sleep seems to be working fine. Its only the monitor.

Personally I beleive there is a Windows 7 issue. I think the problem can be resolved if I can figure out what is causing the settings to change after I have saved the changes and exited setup? Something in the system is overriding the options selected and going to far as to select the Balanced (Recommended) option from the Performance or Custom scheme that I created.

I have attached 2 links to this same issue and so far no one has been able to resolve the issue.
