    Hi,

For the last month or so my Philips LCD 190S has been going crazy with flashing messages - sometimes it's *controls are locked* sometimes it opens the entire panel of adjustments and starts going through all the variations of hue/lightness/preferences - whatever is there. I can't turn it off no matter how many buttons I try - even disconnecting the AC or video doesn't help - it just goes back to the flashing messages. I ran a few malware detection programs nothing is coming up - cleaned out my registry - even did a restore - it comes and goes. Right now it's quiet - but I never know when it's going to act up again. Short of throwing the monitor in the garbage, does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

    Thank you!

This appears to be a hardware issue so I have moved your thread to the Hardware forum. ;)

This is clearly a hardware problem. Maybe your monitor is getting noise from a badl video cable or one that is not screwed down tight? Other than that, I would say that your monitor is biting the dust. Is it by any chance still under warranty?

    Hi,

Well, the messages have since gone - and since this morning, my PC refused to load anything in the Systray - including audio (greyed out in Control Panel) , took 10x longer to scan the AV, wouldn't connect to the POP server - basically hanging and freezing. It took 3 restarts for it to kick back into full speed. I ran Process Explorer while this was happening - nothing out of the ordinary was running, did 3 different malware checks - found the remnants of something -did a registry clean - and a CMD reset - rebooted and it's ok for the time being.

This isn't the first time this has happened - seems like every 3 months or so - it goes into this mode. I don't want to be paranoid - but could someone remotely be freezing my PC so they can dl whatever it is they think I have on my PC?

I have no other explanation - Device Manager looks ok - argh. What am I missing?

Thank you so much for any enlightenment on this subject,
    Blue
